Staking, Voting, Account Creation Officially Open on INSTAR Blockchain!

The proxy server has been removed and the Insights Network is now a fully functioning public blockchain market research network!

Join us in completely disrupting the market research industry and setting the new gold standard for how consumer data is handled, exchanged, and monetized.

The INSTAR Block Producer Network is growing with over 16 Block Producers already registered and collecting their daily reward for powering the INSTAR Blockchain.

How to Stake and Vote using the Greymass Wallet

  1. Stake INSTAR tokens

First, log in to your wallet on Greymass using your private key. Then, click wallet > Stake tokens. The amount you stake gives you the amount of votes you will able to cast for up to thirty block producer candidates. Unstaked tokens can’t be used to vote.

2. Vote for your favorite block producers

After you’ve staked INSTAR tokens, you can cast your vote for up to thirty block producers. Start by clicking “Producer Voting” at the top of the menu in the Greymass Wallet > select each BP you want to vote for by clicking the blue check marks (up to thirty candidates) > and hit “Submit Votes for Selected Producers”.

How do I vote for a block producer using code?

Read below to learn some commands that can be executed on the INSTAR Blockchain to do things such as create an account, stake tokens, vote for block producers, and more! If you aren’t a code junkie who gets excited about running the terminal and execute command lines — make sure to download the Greymass Wallet, which allows all of these features to be accessed with a friendly user interface.

  • We have an account, abbreviation. So far, the only tokens staked for this account were delegated by other accounts, as we can see below:
  • $ cleos -u https://instar.greymass.com get account abbreviation created: 2019-08-28T23:32:36.000 permissions: owner 1: 1 EOS8iDrKvdKuSeRRuTjSLRiTJPEMG8sx3DHd619cWEYRCzztwSFR9 active 1: 1 EOS8iDrKvdKuSeRRuTjSLRiTJPEMG8sx3DHd619cWEYRCzztwSFR9 memory: quota: 7.959 KiB used: 2.926 KiB net bandwidth: delegated: 1.0000 INSTAR (total staked delegated to account from others) used: 0 bytes available: 26.45 MiB limit: 26.45 MiB cpu bandwidth: delegated: 1.0000 INSTAR (total staked delegated to account from others) used: 0 us available: 2.645 sec limit: 2.645 sec INSTAR balances: liquid: 10.0000 INSTAR staked: 0.0000 INSTAR unstaking: 0.0000 INSTAR total: 10.0000 INSTAR
  • Let’s stake 2 INSTAR, 1 for CPU bandwidth and 1 for network bandwidth. Assuming the appropriate wallet has already been unlocked:
  • cleos -u https://sao-paulo.insights.network \ system delegatebw abbreviation abbreviation \ "1.0000 INSTAR" "1.0000 INSTAR"
  • We can confirm that it worked. Note the addition of the producers property, which currently says <not voted>.
  • $ cleos -u https://instar.greymass.com get account abbreviation created: 2019-08-28T23:32:36.000 permissions: owner 1: 1 EOS8iDrKvdKuSeRRuTjSLRiTJPEMG8sx3DHd619cWEYRCzztwSFR9 active 1: 1 EOS8iDrKvdKuSeRRuTjSLRiTJPEMG8sx3DHd619cWEYRCzztwSFR9 memory: quota: 7.959 KiB used: 3.49 KiB net bandwidth: staked: 1.0000 INSTAR (total stake delegated from account to self) delegated: 1.0000 INSTAR (total staked delegated to account from others) used: 145 bytes available: 52.91 MiB limit: 52.91 MiB cpu bandwidth: staked: 1.0000 INSTAR (total stake delegated from account to self) delegated: 1.0000 INSTAR (total staked delegated to account from others) used: 998 us available: 5.29 sec limit: 5.291 sec INSTAR balances: liquid: 8.0000 INSTAR staked: 2.0000 INSTAR unstaking: 0.0000 INSTAR total: 10.0000 INSTAR producers: <not voted>
  • Because they are so good at what they do, let’s cast a vote for Greymass.
  • cleos -u https://sao-paulo.insights.network \ system voteproducer approve abbreviation teamgreymass
  • We can see from querying the account info that it worked.
